A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.
Pearly Mae Powell, 79 years young was born
January 24th, 1947. Born and raised in Chicago,
attended Shoop Elementary and Carver High.
Holding employment in several different
occupations: the post office and Provident
Hospital, before becoming a mother. After
making sure the role of motherhood was fulfilled,
making sure we had hot meals everyday, were
dressed nice and warm for school, and always
picked up our report cards, she went to work at
Wee Wee Day Care. She also had a humongous
hand in raising her grandkids.
Pearly confessed her devotion to God by
becoming a member of Oakdale Covenant
Church.
Pearly had a love for music, dancing, comedy
shows, cooking, sewing, and going to casinos.
She was called home on April 15th, 2026 after
suffering from complications of a second stroke.
She passed away at Northwestern Hospital with
her family by her bedside. Pearly
leaves behind a husband (Roy Sr.), son (Roy Jr.),
a daughter (Tisa), grandkids Justin, Charles,
Khadijah, Khadarien, Malik, and Khavon. Great
grandkids, Halo, Jaaliyah, Kayani, Noah, a
brother (Sanders), a host of sister and brother in-
laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her
mother (Isabelle), father (Sanders), brothers
(Andrew and Samuel), sisters (Mary, Geneva,
Shirley), nephews (Mark, Demetrius, Emmett,
Sonny, Randy and Larry) preceded Pearl in
death.
