Juanita Fairley

Juanita Fairley, affectionately known as “Ookie” to her family, was born January 23, 1956 to the late Comfort Fairley and Roberta Helen Wilson in Chicago, Illinois.  She graduated from Parker High School and later received an Associate in Artsdegree from Kennedy King College.  Soon after, she gained employment with Cook County Hospital as a Management Analyst and there she stayed for 30 years until retirement in 2006.

Juanita was quite the socialite.  She enjoyed spending time with friends and hanging out at local lounges.  While hanging at one of her familiar spots, she met the love of her life Cedric Jamison. A few years later she gave birth to her only child Edrienna Jamison.  

Post retirement, Juanita developed a love for cooking.  After taking a class at Daley College, she began catering parties for friends, lounges and community centers.  She also enjoyed listening to music and creating memories with her grandchildren.  

Juanita departed this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her closest family.  She was the eight child out of eleven.  Juanita was preceded in death by her sister Alice and survived by her brothers Henry, Sylvester and Leonard and her sisters Diane, Roberta, Shirley, Maxine, Janet and Deborah. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and three grandchildren Vincent, Skylar and Yuri (due to be born in December 2022), her 9 siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
