John H. Sims, also known as "Slick" in his younger days and "Smiley" for his infectious smile was born on April 4, 1941 to the late Duncan Sims, Jr. and Lillie Mae Riley Sims in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Johnny was baptized the "old skool way" at an early age in the river. He was a retired welder who loved to laugh with family and friends - especially his lifelong best friend Ben "Benji" Thomas. Him being such a cool easy going laid back person, he was truly loved by all of those whom paths he crossed. He was joined in holy matrimony with Sylvia Charley on February 18, 1995. John was a homebody that loved watching old westerns, old basketball and football games and most of all loved to fish and eat what he caught - seafood was his all time favorite.
John made his transition from this world on February 5, 2020. His siblings preceding him are: Duncan "Fat" Sims, Jr., III, Betty Sims Harris, Ronnie Sims and Allen Sims. Continuing in his memory are: his siblings Mamie Sims, Doris Sims Johnson, Joyce Sims Smith (Greg), Olandis "Lan" Sims; his children CaSondra "CeCe" Sims Clavelle (Lillie Sims), Jeff Mensa, Tamiko Charley and Breshenda Charley McClinton (Bryan); grandchildren Clarice Clavelle, Kristin Clavelle, Jasmin Reid, Kristian Hamilton (Rachel), DiAngelo McClinton, Skyeler Henderson, Justyn McClinton, Sherrod Henderson, Breyanna McClinton; 11 great grandchildren including Katelynn Thomas and Makayla Thomas; his namesake John Henry "Uncle Hobo" Riley and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
