Janice Denise Perry, a God-fearing wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, in Chicago, illinois. She was 62 years old.
Born to Betty Lewis and Ivory Anderson on March 8, 1962, Janice was a dedicated Custodian for over 20 years at Chicago Public Schools. She was a natural leader and eventually became the Lead Custodian at Metcalfe Elementary School.
On May 5, 1978, Janice married Tyrone Perry, her loving husband. She was a proud mother to Torres Lewis, Tony Perry, Tyrone Lewis, Tyson Perry, Jessica Perry (married to Harold) and Jasmine Perry (married to Ozzie). She was also a cherished grandmother to her 21 grandchildren.
Janice is survived by: her mother, Betty Lewis; her brothers, Ivory Lewis and Cornelius Lewis; and her sisters, Sharon Lewis and Deborah Lewis. She also leaves behind her pet dog, Spanky and her grandpup, Milo. In her final moments, Janice spoke in holy tongues, a powerful testament to her deep faith and connection with God. Her unwavering belief in God was a source of strength and comfort to her and those around her. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 91,a reflection of her trust in God's protection and guidance.
Janice was baptized at Holy Miracle Church by Apostle Patrick Stanton Sr. She later joined Greater Hall of Faith Evangelistic Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Parker Sr., where she spent over a decade as a dedicated member. Most recently, she was a member of All Nations Worship Assembly under the leadership of Apostle Matthew Stevenson, where she served faithfully as a Greeter.
Outside of church, Janice enjoyed: movies, decorating, beauty, shopping, crafting, hosting game nights and Gospel Music. She brought joy and creativity to everything she did. One of the things she truly enjoyed was family. She always wanted her family and friends to come together, spend time with each other; and do the right thing and now she has all of you here.
Janice will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a kind and compassionate person, who always put others before herself. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her warm smile and her unwavering love for her family.
