Elijah Robert Wiggins a.k.a Bobby was born on March 27, 1943 to the late Mary Sue (Fields) Wiggins and Claiborne Wiggins. He was the seventh child of eleven siblings, nine which preceded him in death - six sisters: Ruby Tucker, Shirley Randolph, Mary Sue Wiggin, Annie Mae Finch and Joyce Wiggins, all of Petersburg, VA and three brothers: Claiborne Wiggins, John Wiggins and Lawrence Wiggins of Petersburg, VA.
Bobby was born and raised in Petersburg, VA. He attended Henry Williams Elementary and Peabody High School.
In 1963, he joined the United States Navy Station in Crystal Lake, IL. He returned home in 1966 and married his late wife, Edna (Mays) Wiggins in 1967. He moved his family to Chicago, IL. He worked for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) from March 1969 and later retired in 1994.
Bobby loved the game of Checkers and Dominoes. when his children were younger, he played hide and seek by climbing the walls hiding in the ceiling. He would jump double dutch and play ball and jacks with his daughters. He spent his last years watching his baby girl finish high school.
No matter where he went or who he came in contact with, he would let you know who he was saying "I'm Bobby Wiggins".
Bobby departed his life on July 13, 2021 at Symphony Nursing Home. He is survived by four daughters: Sharon Wiggins-Bates (John), Cheryl Wiggins, Wanda Wiggins and Tiangela Wiggins-Campbell (Terrance) all of Chicago, IL; three sons: Ardonis Wiggins of Petersburg, VA, Toney Wiggins (Llouellyn) of Dekalb, IL, Robert Brown of Chicago, IL; twenty three grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, James Wiggins of Petersburg, VA; and one brother-in-law, Herman Tucker; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
