Donald Spires

Donald Spires was born on October 31, 1937 to the union of Francis Spires and Ruth Johnson. His parents and both his brothers, Lamar Spires and Dennis Hart preceded Donald in death. Donald gave his life to Jesus at an early age. He graduated from Farren Elementary School and Dunbar High School. He was later enlisted into the United States Navy. In January 1958, Donald married Hattie M. Thompson. To this union three beautiful children were born, Denise and Donald Bernard, (who both preceded him in death) and Lisa. 

Amongst Donald's favorite pastimes, were listening to jazz and collecting watches. He always said "everyone needs to know what time it is". He always dressed sharp and he never repeated an outfit. Donald's favorite saying was, "I never owned a pair of gym shoes, white socks or jeans". He loved his family and he let it be known, don’t mess with them!  He tried his best to live by his favorite Bible verse “to whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48.
