Melvin Douglass Miles was born June 20, 1964 in Chicago IL, to Ann Williams Miles and Melvin O. Miles whom proceeded him in death.

On March 1, 2002 he married Teri K. Franklin. To there union they had three children. He had two children with his previous wife.

Melvin was a spiritual person and active member of the Nation of Islam.

Melvin was an excellent father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew and loved him. He touched the hearts of so many people.

Melvin loved to dress, dance, party, play pool, crack jokes, cook, and spend time with his kids, and grandkids. Melvin was a family man, he also loved to ride his bike to the lakefront (The Point). He was a jack of all trades, you call him and he’s coming to assist in anyway possible.

On October 5, 2006 Melvin was called home. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Teri K. Franklin; five daughters, Christiane Miles, Jasmine Miles, Moenay Miles, Teri Miles and Jasanay Miles; siblings, Renee Lackland (Michael), Yevette Miles, Maurice Miles (Cassandra), Regina Miles, Christopher Miles, Monique Tucker, Melba Jean Miles, Sheri Miles, Brian Brown, and Charmaine Brown; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, beloved friends and extended family.
